Snip from Wall Street Journal article on the last collection of Alexander McQueen.
Twice in the weeks leading up to his Feb. 11 death, Mr. McQueen messaged on Twitter, 'Hells angels [sic] and prolific demons.' What seemed a non sequitur now appears to be a reference to the collection he was working on, imprinted with the angels of Sandro Botticelli and the demons of Hieronymus Bosch. He had finished some 16 looks, about half of what the collection would typically include, at the time of his death.
His Twitter account has been taken offline, but a Google Cache exists. The final tweet: "De sade, Marie A- god rest there souls." [sic]

I actually shot a fashion shoot in the same Paris chateau as Alexander McQueen. I recognized it instantly. Here is a link to my flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rickalarcon/sets/72157606230202347/
WOW.
I'm about as far from being a fashionista as anyone (male, three months away from 50, overweight, receding hairline, and a sloppy dresser), but wow, that's an awesome.. getup(?) in the photo. Very mysterious, medieval, angelic?
I watched a fashion show for the first time in my life yesterday - it was Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010 collection, and I was more entranced and transported in those few minutes than I was during 2 hours of Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I've never been more than a casual fan of McQueen's work, but after watching that show, poring over the photos, and reading these tweets I can't help but feel a real sense of loss. The man was a true artist and he had so much left to give to the world.
nods Xeni...wow
FWIW, he did have tweets after the last one in the google cache. His final tweet, if I remember, was a birthday wish to a friend - which was far less foreboding considering that the next day he left us.
